How Our Apprenticeships & Training Work

The CORE process connects apprentices with trusted industry partners, supported training and consistent guidance. The result is a clear pathway from onboarding through to qualification and long-term career outcomes.

Step One
Apply & Get Assessed

Submit an application and complete the screening process to determine suitability for the apprenticeship pathway. CORE talks the applicant through the role, the trade and the industry partner environment, so that an informed decision can be made.

Step Two
Training & Skill Development

Structured training is delivered through an approved Registered Training Organisation while apprentices build practical industry skills on the job. Off-the-job learning runs alongside on-site experience, not after it.

Step Three
Pre-Employment Checks

Pre-employment checks include identity verification, medical assessment, site safety tickets such as the White Card, and any trade-specific tickets. CORE guides apprentices through every step.

Step Four
Commencement

The training contract is formally activated. CORE notifies the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and the Apprentice Network Provider (ANP). Apprentices are placed with an industry partner and begin work on site.

Step Five
Active Phase

Apprentices are on site, learning the trade and working toward qualification. CORE Field Officers visit regularly, monitor progress and remain available throughout the placement.

Step Six
Completion

Qualification achieved. CORE manages the formal sign-off with the regulator and the RTO. The apprentice is then nationally qualified and ready for the next stage of their career.

Industry Partners

Working with CORE gives industry partners access to motivated apprentices who are ready to contribute on site. The employment, training coordination and compliance side stays with us, while your team focuses on supervising the work and building practical skills.

CORE. We are the legal employer for the full duration of the apprenticeship. CORE pays wages, manages superannuation and looks after all employment obligations. The industry partner provides the day-to-day supervision and on-the-job training.

Full-time is typically 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Overtime or weekend work may be required on some projects. Off-the-job training is scheduled alongside paid work, usually one day per week or in blocks. Trade-specific details: electrical start times around 7:00am to 3:30pm, with off-the-job adding approximately 8 hours per week (one day per week or in blocks of four days every four to five weeks); plumbing start times around 7:00am, with training blocks depending on the RTO and host site; carpentry early starts on most sites, with training blocks depending on the RTO and host site.

Tuition fees are set by the RTO delivering the qualification, and government subsidies or concessions may apply for eligible apprentices. Budget for mandatory tickets and licences (approximately $50 to $200 each), additional PPE and tools, and any medical or induction costs not covered by the host site. (Electrical specifies PPE and tools at approximately $200 to $500 and medical or induction costs at approximately $100 to $300.)

Your job and your training contract remain with CORE. If a placement ends or is not the right fit, we work with you to find another suitable host site. Progress toward the qualification is not affected.
